Why Choose Packair For Your FTL & LTL Freight Needs?
Next time you see a massive 18-wheeler trucking by while you’re sitting in traffic, or if you’re at the local grocery store and take notice of a truck docking in the delivery bay, don’t just think of it as a vehicle delivering the products that stock the shelves of your local consumer stores, but remember that the trucking industry a vital machine that spurs our nation’s economic growth.
Ground freight makes the world go round… Well, at least the delivery world. Less trucks on the road would increase the prices for all of our favorite consumer goods and result in slower delivery times. If trucking was removed altogether, then it would be impossible for our special deliveries to even arrive at our doorsteps!
Dependable Ground Freight, Trucking, and Delivery Services
Trucking places driver and motorist safety first by providing continuous driver training and student education programs, and the freight services industry continues to maintain their emphasis on safety prioritization. Recently, a new ELD law that was passed and became effective December 16, 2015 requires that all trucks have installed electronic logging systems in places, which ensure the safety of drivers by preventing the dangers of having tired truck drivers on the road.

A Reliable Ground Freight Company Makes All The Difference
When it comes to choosing a Ground Freight Forwarder, it is more important than ever that your ground freight company provide as much of its freight services in-house as possible. With freight forwarding, and especially ground freight forwarding, it is common for some companies to outsource some or all of their ground infrastructure, compliance, insurance, warehousing, dispatch, and even support and customer service. This makes it that much more difficult, if not impossible, for that provider to guarantee your cargo’s safe and timely transit. And if something goes wrong, the provider’s outsourced client support may not even know it or may lose your cargo altogether.
What are some of the challenges of Ground Freight Forwarding?
- Traffic and Congestion: Delays due to traffic, road closures, or congestion can impact delivery schedules.
- Weather Conditions: Adverse weather (such as snowstorms, heavy rain, or extreme heat) affects transportation efficiency.
- Infrastructure Issues: Poor road conditions, detours, or construction can lead to delays.
- Loading and Unloading: Efficient loading and unloading processes are essential for timely deliveries.
- Cargo Damage: Ensuring proper packaging and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Regulatory Compliance: Compliance with regulations (weight limits, hazardous materials, etc.) is crucial.
- Last-Mile Challenges: Navigating narrow streets and delivering to specific locations can be tricky.
A good, in-house, reputable ground freight company like Packair has its own logistics network, from the point your cargo is received, until the time it is delivered. Compliance, brokerage, insurance, warehousing, and the transportation itself is all part of our wheelhouse, and our veteran forwarding agents are able to act quickly when issues arise. Our agents monitor your cargo’s journey around the clock, and because everything is handled in-house and our infrastructure is so robust, we’re able to make decisions immediately so your freight gets to you safe and on time.
At Packair, we are always one step ahead of anything that may affect delivery. Our agents monitor weather, infrastructure issues and delays, natural disasters, COVID impacts, political and trade concerns, accidents, and any other issues that may need quick rerouting or other strategic changes. And you, the client, will receive your cargo on time, with notifications of any cargo tracking from rerouting changes.
What If My Freight Forwarder Uses Outsourced Partners?
The more a freight forwarder outsources parts of their freight forwarding chain, the less agility it has in recovering from any hiccups in its delivery, and the less robust its infrastructure network is.
Take a regional storm, for example. If there is a surprise tornado watch in the Midwest, the team monitoring weather patterns at a forwarder’s headquarters can get in communication with their ground freight drivers in real time to reroute them safely, often using AI to determine a safer route with comparable travel time. A freight forwarder who outsources their driving may have no idea if their contracted drivers have rerouted and may lose communication with them, if they had any communication to begin with. Still worse, if the drivers are independent, they may not even have any rerouting support from their dispatch and may have to stop and hunker down for the storm. This may result in delivery delays, or worse, destroyed cargo.
A freight forwarder who has in-house logistics and drivers in constant communication would easily bypass the storm. And in the very low chance any cargo did get delayed or damaged, they would be able to almost immediately insure and replace or refund that cargo, and a client support agent would be in touch with the client immediately. If the freight forwarder is contracting out their entire cargo journey, they would likely not even know what happened to your cargo immediately, and the outsourced customer service would have little recourse to help. Insurance could take weeks, and could mean hours and hours of phone calls, with the client having to do all of the groundwork in communications and paperwork to get their return back.
With reputable, in-house freight forwarders like Packair, we know the value of your cargo, and we know that you hire us in the first place so you don’t have to shoulder the burdens of delayed or lost cargo yourself. And our veteran forwarding agents are in constant communication with our logistics chain to make sure your cargo gets to its destination on time.
